The Kilburns

Let them entertain you!

The Kilburns play a a variety of music, covering  "The pogues, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed. and Neil Young"  to name but a few. Musical style ranges from mellow acoustic to light rock, with "The Kilburns" putting their own interpretation into the music we play.

"The Kilburns" started as a four piece band in early 2009, but over time we have grown to be a five piece band.

When ever we play there always seems to be

 someone missing from our line up!

Past Gigs 2012

Sunday 5th August 2012 Great Ponton Duck Race. in aid of the  villages Church funds.

The afternoon started wet, but then the sun came out, and great fun was had by all raising funding for the the village church. This is our third time of playing at the duck race, thanks to everyone for making us welcome.

August 26th 2012  

Our next show is on Sunday the 26th August, at  "The Blue Horse" Skillington, Grantham.

Many thanks to Frank  and Pam at the Blue Horse for making us so welcome last night. Also thanks to Tim Welbourne for supporting us on banjo on some numbers. When talking with Pam at the end of the evening it is a possability that we may be returning to play at the Blue Horse again later in the year. Date and time to be confirmed.

September 21st

Friday 21st September 2012. Great Ponton Village Hall, Social Evening . Music starting and bar opening at 8pm.

What a great evening we had at Ponton! Many thanks to all who supported the evening, raising money for a village defibrillator.

 We were due to play at Grantham's "Gravity Field Festival" on Friday 28th September, but unfortuntatly due to illness within the band we have had to sadly withdraw from this event.

December 16th 

Another gig played at the Blue horse, Skillington. Many thanks to Pam and Frank for inviting us back again. We had a slightly different line up for the afternoon gig. We now have Richard, regularly playing with us on Violin. Also we had guest support from Tim Welbourne on Banjo and Pete Selby provided great additional/lead vocals on many of the irish songs. Many thanks again  for your support.

We are booked again to play at the Blue Horse for St Patricks Day 17th March 2013 at from 4.30pm.

  Past Gigs 2013

January 25th 2013

This afteroon/evening we went to Goole to play a birthday party gig,  at Goole working mens club. Fantastic venue large stage and large auditorium capacity for 300+. The evening went well and I think that all enjoyed themselves. However the journey home to Grantam was horrendous, due to very heavy snow, our progress was limited to travelling at 15mph for most of the return journey. We travelled in two cars which both managed to miss the A1 turn off south at Doncaster! Journey time to Goole 1hour 30mins, return journey to Grantham between 4 hours+.

 March 9th

Meet us at Old Somerby, Grantham. Playing in support of Church Funds. Looks like this gig is going to be slightly different from usual. We hope to have plenty of audience participation!

We had a great evening, many thanks to all who came in support of Church funds. Maybe in the future we can repeat the evening, and play some of the songs the we had to miss out. 

March 17th

St Patricks afternoon at The Blue Hourse Skillington, from 4.30pm onwards.

Another great afternoon and evening, again thanks to Pete Selby for joining us this afternoon.  

June 14th 

What a great evening raising funds for the church Organ

restoration. Many thanks to all those who came to support the church with it's fund raising. We look forward to be invited back to help out again in the near future.

August 24th 2013 

We have a new line up for this Gig at the Coachman, Corby Glen.

Unfortunately we no longer have Richard with us, but hopefully from today onwards we will have Steve Scarfe on keyboard, and Tony Dobson on violin. We also have Micky Mcnulty, supporting on Bodron, and Annie Samuel on Penny Whistle for this afternoon. It was a good session with the new line up, every one appeared to enjoy the afternoon.

This was an evening gig on one of the hottest evenings of the year. We have the same line up again, but without Annie. Thanks to all at The Stag at Barkston.

November 22nd 2013

The George Hotel, Ledenham, we now have Paul Brian with us, on second guitar. This was more of a practice night, as this gig was arranged at very short notice. Some new material, hopefully every one there enjoyed it as much as we did.

January 24th 2014

First gig of the new year in Sleaford, at the former Magistrates courts Sleaford. We shared the evening with Micky's other band Croagh Patrick. The Kilburns kicked off the evening and finished the session at midnight. Lots of support from customers, and friends, we look forward to returning again later in the year.

First time at the Gables Grantham. playing from 8.30 till 11.00pm. excellent support from the locals. Many thanks to all who came.

1st June

Private 60th birthday party at Loughborough. Enjoyed the venue and the company of all who came. Played music throughout the afternoon. Also had support from Ian Bennett on cigar box guitar. "Singer song writer at Farrago" Brilliant weather, very hot well worth the trip to Loughborough.

July2014

Gig in support of raising funds for the Red Cross in Grantham. Played outside, inbetween the rain showers. Great venue at Hough on the Hill.

August 9th

Private party at Jerry's Little Ponton. Played a mixture of Irish music and contemporary. Great afternoon, Jerry had his steam traction engine  Wallace fired up.

September 2014

Another outside gig for the caravaners staying on Little Ponton playing fields. Cold night but warm welcome.

26th September 2014

Returned to play at Boothby Pagnell village, Church. In support of raising funds to repair their rare and early Wurlitzer church organ. Thanks to all who made us welcome again.

7th November 2014

Brilliant night of music at the Woodhouse Arms Corby Glen. We now have a brand new sound system.

15th November 2014

Dudley Road school in support of local charity "MIND". Very Good evening raising money for a very good cause.

First gig of the new year. "The Royal Queen" Belton Lane Grantham. Full band line up out tonight. Great evening, warm welcome from the audience. Vocals a bit down on the night due to a sore throat, apologies for this!

Great Ponton, Caravan Rally, Evening gig played outside under an awning. It was a cold evening, but I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

Leasingham Village Fete. Only three of us were available to play this afternoon. Very well supported fete, with dancing and performances from other invited guests, Brilliant afternoon with very warm weather.

This is an event not to miss in 2018!
